The Opportunity
We are seeking either a Project Engineering Manager (PEM) or Associate PEM on a full-time, permanent basis from Adelaide, Australia who bring a strong combination of technical expertise, stakeholder engagement capability, and design management experience.
A Project Engineering Manager is the primary technical interface for internal stakeholders, ensuring that all engineering requirements are clearly understood, communicated and effectively delivered. The PEM providers leadership across the full technical lifecycle, coordinating engineering teams from project planning and design through to execution and final handover. A PEM holds accountability for technical project deliverables, including:
- Defining and managing engineering scope, with focusing on technical accuracy and strategic alignment.
- Ensuring delivery within approved cost and schedule.
- Maintaining high standards of quality.
- Identifying, managing and mitigating engineering risks.
- Managing compliance with ElectraNet's engineering processes and relevant legislations and standards.
The Associate PEM is a developmental engineering leadership role, supporting the delivery of engineering outcomes while building capability toward the PEM role.
In this role, you'll:
- Deliver defined engineering components of projects under the guidance of senior engineering leaders.
- Support the coordination and delivery of engineering scope, documentation, design reviews and construction reviews at a reduced level of accountability.
- Participate in safety in design processes and support compliance with the Engineering Management System.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to develop user requirements and support design validation.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experience Engineering professional to contribute to the delivery of engineering services across our critical Regulated and Contracted Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) projects that are fundamental to South Australia's energy future.
About You
To be a successful PEM you will have demonstrated significant experience (10+ years) delivering engineering outcomes within the Electrical, Civil, or Structural sectors. This includes experience in project scope definition, specification development, management of design reviews, oversight of on-site inspections, and the application of Safety in Design principles.
Additionally, you will have:
- A strong understanding of electricity-related engineering project delivery, particularly in relation to substation and transmission assets and their operation.
- Previous experience in a relevant design or engineering management role within the power or energy sector.
- Strong understanding of engineering design processes, inter-disciplinary coordination, problem-solving, design assurance, and quality management
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and negotiate effectively.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen, with experience managing risk and governance to deliver projects safely, on time, and on budget.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical or related) and eligibility for Engineers Australia membership.
To be successful as an Associate Project Engineering Manager, you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience (typically 5+ years) in engineering delivert within electricity networks or a related environment.
- Exposure to engineering project delivery activities such as design reviews, specification development, site inspections and safety-in-design processes.
- A developing understanding of transmission and substation engineering principles and regulatory requirements.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical or related) and eligibility for Engineers Australia membership.
