The Opportunity
Join ElectraNet and play a hands on role in powering South Australia’s clean energy future! As an Experienced Asset Engineer Secondary Systems Commissioning, you’ll lead the testing, commissioning and assurance of high-voltage and secondary systems, ensuring every asset performs safely and reliably.
You’ll collaborate with technical experts and service providers, bringing your engineering know how, problem solving skills and eye for detail to help deliver critical infrastructure that keeps the state energised.
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate and oversee testing and commissioning of secondary systems assets
- Provide assurance and technical expertise across corrective and routine maintenance and refurbishment projects
- Conduct asset audits and ensure compliance with routine maintenance test policies and procedures
- Build strong relationships across ElectraNet, SA Power Networks, Customers and service providers
About You
You’re an accomplished and hands on electrical engineer who thrives in high voltage environments and takes pride in delivering technical excellence. You bring a deep understanding of protection, control, and communication systems, and you’re passionate about ensuring operations and reliability of every secondary systems assets.
You enjoy working both in the field and in the office, balancing technical analysis, stakeholder collaboration, and problem solving to achieve quality outcomes. Known for your attention to detail and structured approach, you take ownership of your work and aren’t afraid to speak up when it comes to safety, compliance, or performance standards.
You’re motivated by contributing to South Australia’s clean energy future and value being part of a team that operates at the forefront of the energy transition, ensuring ElectraNet’s network continues to perform safely, reliably, and efficiently.
- Proven competency in secondary systems testing and commissioning
- Strong knowledge of control systems, SCADA, RTUs, PLCs, and networking protocols
- Advanced understanding of power system protection, control, and IEC 61850 standards
- Skilled in fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, and problem-solving of complex systems
- Experience using vendor-specific software tools for substation automation and protection
- Ability to work autonomously in the field and manage multiple priorities effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Electrical or related discipline)
- Desirable: Class A Electrical Licence, Level 1 Substation Access, and industry background in electricity or utilities
