The Opportunity
ElectraNet is seeking an Experienced Network Operations Power System Engineer and/or Power System Engineers to contribute to the secure and reliable operation of South Australia's high-voltage transmission network based in Adelaide, South Australia.
Joining our Network Security team as an Operational Power System Engineer you will have exposure and skills in:
Operational Analysis:
- Maintain and enhance real-time analysis techniques that use Synchrophasor and/or SCADA data.
- Investigate power system performance and disturbances.
- Monitor and report on power system compliance and assist in incident investigations and post-fault analysis.
- Collaborate closely with the Control Room and Network Systems Engineering team to support real-time analysis systems, including SCADA and Synchrophasor telemetry infrastructure.
- Engage with external stakeholders, including AEMO, SA Power Networks, and connected customers, to support effective analysis and investigation of power system performance.
- Support operational procedures and provide operational feedback for future planning.
Reporting:
- Maintain reporting and analysis processes.
- Perform routine regulatory reporting and develop enhancements to underlying reporting processes.
- Contribute to weekly network operational reporting meetings and support the development of contingency plans and operating instructions.
About You
We are seeking motivated and proactive individuals with strong customer focus and excellent communication skills. Depending on the level of the role, you will bring the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an operational engineering role within the electricity industry (check PDs attached for lower level roles).
- Advanced analytical, investigation, and problem-solving skills in real-time operations.
- Strong understanding of system reliability, substation and network components, and their operation.
- Proficiency in interpreting and processing network performance data and providing actionable operational advice.
- Experience in programming and analysis using MATLAB, Python, or similar
