The Opportunity

Our Engineers are responsible for the development and delivery of Secondary Systems design work across a broad range of projects including connections of generators (renewables and conventional), battery energy storage systems, major loads as well as replacement of existing infrastructure to ensure the network remains reliable.

 

As the Lead, you will be providing technical leadership and guidance on the Secondary Design scope for detailed design. This includes developing/maintaining design tools, quality assurance checklist/processes as well as mentoring other team members in the discipline of Secondary Design.

 

You will play a key role in the peer review and approval of Secondary Design engineering deliverables and may also be the SME on selected projects. You will also be providing technical leadership and guidance on other aspects of Secondary Design project delivery from scope and specifications, design review and commissioning witnessing.

About You

  • A seasoned and qualified Secondary Engineer, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Possess strong understanding of secondary design principles, HV power system protection schemes and substation automation systems.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of power system fundamentals and fault analysis, principles, and secondary systems circuitry design & principles.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of protection system construction and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of DNP3 and IEC 61850 substation network communication standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of legislated industry requirements (National Electricity Rules, ESCOSA, AEMO Guidelines, Safety in Design, etc).
  • Knowledge of Substation Automation System and Substation Infrastructure Engineering.
  • Able to produce protection device (IED) settings and configuration files.
  • Familiar with Secondary Systems Software (GE, Micom, SEL, Siemens, Eberle, Schneider, etc).
  • Having experience in the energy and utilities industry would be a strong added advantage.
