The Opportunity
As a full-time Senior Power System Engineer (Remedial Action Schemes), based in Adelaide, Australia you’ll play a key role in ensuring the security, resilience and performance of the transmission network as generation becomes increasingly distributed and inverter‑based.
You’ll act as a technical specialist in power system modelling, stability assessment and Remedial Action Schemes, contributing from early connection enquiry stages through to detailed project delivery. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of complex technical work, influence protection and RAS design, and help shape how ElectraNet responds to emerging system risks.
Key focus areas include:
- Designing, assessing and reviewing Remedial Action Schemes and associated protection and control systems
- Developing and maintaining power system and RAS models for stability and system strength assessments
- Undertaking power system studies across steady‑state, RMS and EMT domains
- Accountability for ElectraNet’s contribution to the General Power System Risk Review (GPSRR) for Remedial Action Schemes, protection and control systems.
- Conducting real‑time digital simulation and hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing in RTDS environments
About You
We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical capability with curiosity, initiative and a collaborative mindset.
You will likely bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience (7+ years)
- Extensive experience in power system modelling, stability analysis or Remedial Action Schemes
- Familiarity with tools such as PSS®E, PSCAD, PowerFactory and RSCAD / RTDS (or the ability to learn quickly)
- Experience working on complex technical problems that span planning, design and operational support
- Strong communication skills and the ability to share technical insights with a range of stakeholders
