The Opportunity

The Special Counsel is a senior, highly specialised role providing trusted legal advice across the business. Working closely with executive leaders and stakeholders, you will deliver high‑quality, commercially sound legal guidance that protects ElectraNet’s interests and supports informed decision‑making.

Key focus areas include:

  • Leading complex legal matters across major construction projects, corporate and commercial transactions, land access (including native title), governance, compliance and disputes
  • Providing strategic, pragmatic advice that balances legal risk with operational and commercial outcomes
  • Managing and overseeing external legal service providers to ensure quality and value
  • Contributing to a strong compliance culture through policy development, training and continuous improvement

About You

You are a senior legal professional with strong commercial acumen and the ability to navigate complex, high‑risk matters with confidence and sound judgement. You build trusted relationships, communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders, and bring a practical, solutions‑focused approach to legal advice.

You will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Law and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice
  • A current South Australian Legal Practising Certificate
  • Extensive experience delivering high‑quality legal advice in complex corporate or infrastructure environments
  • Demonstrated capability across commercial contracts, construction, compliance, governance and dispute resolution
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills
  • A proactive mindset, resilience and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
