The Opportunity

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the effective leadership of ElectraNet’s Treasury function, supporting sustainable infrastructure investment and the organisation’s role in South Australia’s clean energy transition.

As Treasury Manager, you will take end to end accountability for the day to day operational excellence of the treasury function and its deliverables to Management, Executive, Board and Board sub-Committees. Partnering closely with the Head of Treasury and Corporate Finance and the CFO, your focus will be on turning strategy into execution. Your remit spans the full treasury spectrum including capital structure, funding and liquidity management, financial risk  management, credit rating management, forecasting and analytics, governance, reporting and systems and operations — with real influence over decisions that protect earnings and cash flows and position the balance sheet for future growth to support the investment required to achieve the clean energy transition and industry growth in South Australia.

Key aspects of this role include:

  • Managing capital and funding decisions to deliver the businesses growth opportunities, optimise its capital structure and deliver a cost of debt within targeted benchmarks. Exploring alternative funding solutions not yet employed by the business to enable more innovative ways to deliver growth will also be a focus. You’ll apply financial modelling and analytical insight to assess funding options, capital structure opportunities and emerging risks, providing clear, defensible advice to senior leaders.
  • Managing liquidity requirements by overseeing daily, monthly and long term cash flow forecasting within Policy targets and to deliver efficient cash management through working capital optimisation.
  • Identifying, measuring and managing key financial risks. You will design, execute and report on hedging strategies across interest rate, foreign exchange, commodity risks. You will also actively monitor and manage counterparty credit risks and broader cash flow related risks — in line with Treasury Policy, Board approved delegations and risk appetite.
  • Playing a key role in managing the organisations credit rating with its credit rating agencies. This includes managing credit rating information requests and presentations, monitoring key credit metrics, and positioning ElectraNet effectively in global financial markets.
  • Assisting in managing and delivering market engagement strategies, including managing relationships with domestic and offshore banks, debt investors and related service providers. This includes managing the annual business update presentations and assisting in its delivery to key external stakeholders.
  • Accountability for high quality reporting and governance, delivering accurate, timely and insightful executive, Treasury Committee and Board reporting. This includes dashboards, metrics, compliance reporting, budgets, forecasts and financial market updates that support confident, evidence based decision making. A key emphasise is on attention to detail, particularly relating to detailed reviews of the treasury teams workflows and deliverables, as well as ensuring internal consistency of assumptions and messaging with the broader business.
  • Manage treasury operations, systems and capability uplift, driving continuous improvement across the Treasury Management System, its integration with the organisations enterprise systems, processes, controls and analytics. You will manage and develop a small specialist team and partner across the business to lift commercial and financial acumen.

About You

You’re a confident, commercial and detail driven treasury professional who can translate complexity into clear, value adding insight. You enjoy building trusted relationships across the business and externally, and you bring a strong governance mindset to everything you do.

Here’s what we’re looking for in our new manager:

  • Experience in a corporate treasury environment for a large organisation and/or a capital markets / advisory role, with strong knowledge of treasury operations and managing large complex debt and derivatives portfolios. Experience in energy, regulated utility or infrastructure industries is highly regarded.
  • Strong technical grounding in treasury and financial risk management — including market, credit, funding, operational and cash flow risks — and confidence in executing hedging strategies and managing financial risk exposures within policy and delegations.
  • Proven capability producing high quality board/executive reporting, dashboards, metrics and compliance reporting — backed by high attention to detail to ensure accuracy and internal consistency.
  • High-impact stakeholder skills: able to engage senior leaders internally and manage relationships with banks, investors, rating agencies, advisers, legal counsel and auditors.
  • Strong analytical and commercial acumen — able to identify value creation opportunities (e.g., capital structure optimisation, innovative funding solutions) aligned to risk appetite.
  • Experience leading a team, developing capability and managing multiple workflows concurrently.
  • Demonstrated ambition and achievement in driving continuous improvement in systems, processes, controls and governance.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills and experience operating a Treasury Management System; familiarity with accounting standards is beneficial.
  • Recognised tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline. Postgraduate or industry qualifications such as a Master of Applied Finance, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM) or equivalent are highly regarded.
